Struggling to build your brand and having a hard time finding clients for your product/service? Then Instagram is your new eBay! Wondering how?
Research shows that 80% of sales happen from stories and DMs. And these two factors are the ones you should concentrate on if you want to sell your products/services through Instagram.
Then there are two important areas we should take care of the most for doing it.
So I’m gonna give you some examples and tell you how to do it.
The first step to sales is
1. Understanding your target audience
If you don’t know who your target audience is, then you’re gonna have a hard time succeeding in your business. Because you can’t sell a shoe to someone who is looking for a house. So what does it mean by the target audience? Target audience is the selected group of people who are the most interested in the product/service that you’re providing.
Let’s look at an example.
Suppose if I’m a painter, and I want to sell my painting. But to whom will I sell it to? Obviously to the people who would love to buy and are looking for one, to hang in their home, for instance. But how would you know who is looking for paintings? Here’s the interesting part!
Now we can’t find people who are about to move out or are about to build a new home. But there are people who know that. Interior designers. They closely work with the people who are a potential customer for us. They have got projects where we both can collaborate. So naturally, the next step is to connect with them. That’s where DMs play a major role. Connecting and networking has become the easiest thing to do in the twenty-first century. But all you’ve got to do here is do it intentionally and tactically. As part of this, you are going to DM the maximum number of Designers that you can. Knock at every door possible, and never leave a chance. But when you do it, you’ll have to keep certain things in mind.
1. Make sure you don’t Spam them.
Say whatever, spamming is never a good idea. If you are not careful about the words that you use, chances are they’ll probably block you or will never work with you.
2. Don’t Copy-Paste.
Always send a customised text to different people. Never just copy-paste the same words for everyone. It’ll probably sound plastic and the person will never take you seriously.
3. Be Nice
If you’re approaching someone, never make it all about yourself. Show them you’re genuinely interested in their work, compliment them and appreciate what they’re doing. Start with them and not with you!
4. Gain their trust.
Now how do you do that? In the land of social media, everyone’s looking for more reach, likes and comments. Comment on their posts, say nice things and make yourself noticed. Nobody likes to help a complete stranger!
5. Find a balance.
Each word you choose counts. Never flood them with compliments and make it sound so plastic. You should never overdo it. Find a middle ground and be patient instead of poking them every now and then.
And once you achieve this, you can slowly slide into their DMs and as mentioned above after complimenting and appreciating their work, introduce your skills and maybe send some of your works. Also, conclude it by stressing how pleased you would be to work with them. Choose 5-6 interior designers every day and message them and build a bond. If you are looking for success, success won’t come to you, you’ll have to go out there and knock on each and every door possible.
Maybe after you knock 100 or 150 doors, you’ll get 1-2 clients. From there you step up. And that’s how you do it.
You can also get the target audience by simply searching the hashtags in the explore area. And there we’ll get every potential customer under a single umbrella. And go to their DMs. That’s how you engage with them, that’s how you build trust. That’s where the money is. By using Instagram, you can reach out to clients. You don’t have to travel, you don’t have to go to them. It’s all at your fingertips. So, learn to use it.
